We invite contributions from all fields and research cultures. We particularly welcome submissions that address interculturality and contributions from transdisciplinary teams. Please indicate how your submission aligns with the following streams, categories and formats. Choose one primary stream and indicate one or more categories relevant to your contribution.

STREAMS

 

  • Theories and Epistemologies
    Contributions that aim at advancing theoretical foundations and epistemology of transdisciplinarity, and/or elaborate on dealing with different theoretical backgrounds and epistemics in research.
  • Methodologies, Process Designs and Methods
    Contributions that propose or discuss methodological aspects or approaches, and/or transdisciplinary process designs, and/or advances in methods and quality criteria of transdisciplinary research.
     
  • Case Studies
    Contributions that provide insights into and/or trajectories of transdisciplinary case studies, including examples of success and failure with lessons learned from experience for future efforts.
     
  • Teaching and learning in higher education
    Contributions that provide insights into transdisciplinary study programs and courses in higher education, discuss professional profiles of graduates, and/or that relate to teaching transdisciplinarity and training programs.

FORMATS

 

  • Poster
    Posters will be on exhibit during the entire course of the ITD 2017 and presented in "speed talks" within a poster parcours. Abstracts of posters, up to a maximum of 600 words will be published in the abstract booklet.
     
  • Presentation (call closed)
    Presentations related to one of the above mentioned streams and categories will occure in sessions of 90 minutes. Each session will group three 15-minute presentations with 10 minutes for discussion. Provide a title and an abstract with a maximum of 600 words.
     
  • Session (call closed)
    Single sessions will be 90 minutes long, and double sessions 180 minutes. They should include a framing introduction of 10 minutes or in the case of double sessions 20 minutes long. To propose a session, provide a title and a short description (maximum 600 words) together with outlines of contributions (maximum 300 words each). Contributions to sessions can either be presentations (see above), panel discussions, or other formats. Please contact us if you need support in seeking potential collaborators for developing sessions.
     
  • Workshop (call closed)
    Activities of joint thinking and acting can form the basis of workshops of 180 minutes. The format is entirely open. The only limitation is that workshops should not exceed 30 minutes of presentation. Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to collaborate with us in developing workshops.
     
  • Open Stage 
    During the conference there will be opportunities to open the stage for interventions, performances, presentations, and exhibitions that go beyond the spoken word. Such contributions may need special locations for exhibitions and performances, please contact the ITD 2017 office (ITD_Conference_2017@leuphana.de) concerning requirements for these activities.
  • Training Workshops (call closed)
    If you want to offer a training workshop, propose either a 180-minute or a full-day workshop on a particular method, tool, approach, or topic. Training workshops will be held Monday September 11 and Friday September 15, 2017. Participants must register for training workshops prior to the conference and upon completion will receive certification.
     
  • Special meetings (for meetings please contact the conference office directly)
    If you want to organise meetings of networks, associations, or other target groups (e.g. graduate students, or postdoctoral fellows, and other groups of researchers and educators), please contact the ITD 2017 office (ITD_Conference_2017@leuphana.de). Special meetings can be held Monday September 11 and Friday September 15, 2017. We will provide the infrastructure and announce your meeting in the conference programme.
  • Co-Conference
    In addition to a traditional face-to-face format we will incorporate various virtual components, including key-notes and panel discussions via live-stream. Further we encourage you to organise and contribute with Co-Conferences to discuss the conference theme without travelling to Germany.
