Urban Planning Studio “Public Spaces: Transdisciplinary Approaches” (in French and English)

13-18 May 2019, EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland

This inter- and transdisciplinary studio course will take place in collaboration with Studio Jan Gehl (Copenhague, New York, San Francisco) and the Department for Public Spaces of the Ville de Lausanne. Students will have to opportunity to work directly with Studio Jan Gehl and the Ville de Lausanne and learn the “Public Space, Public Life” method developed by the world-renowned Danish urban planning studio. The 3ECTS course is open to PhD candidates as well as highly motivated Masters students across all fields.

Séminaire interdisciplinaire CUSO: Le défi de l'interdisciplinarité: le règlement alternatif des conflits

Ce séminaire donnera la possibilité aux doctorant-e-s de différentes formations, travaillant sur des sujets qui interrogent les rapports entre l’État, la justice et les individus, comme la création de nouveaux (ou parfois anciens et traditionnels) modèles de gestion des conflits, de présenter leurs recherches et de les discuter avec des expert-e-s spécialement invité-e-s pour l’occasion, ainsi qu’avec les autres participante-s.

International Summer School “Modelling Food Security”

8-14 September 2019, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ, Leipzig, Germany

Targeted at PhD students and postdocs, the course is jointly organised by the UFZ, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). Participants will be introduced to modelling approaches on different scales related to food security, and will practically explore them in team programming sessions.
