8.6.2010: Job Offers PhD scholarship in the field of Transdisciplinary Sustainability Research Leuphana University Lueneburg, Institute for Ethics and Transdisciplinary Sustainability Research. Application deadline is: June 25, 2010. The aim of this scholarship is to work on a PhD thesis which will further develop and apply the theoretical and methodological foundations of sustainability science. The specific topic of the PhD thesis will be developed together with Prof. Dr. Daniel Lang on the basis of the competences and interests of the applicants. Potential topics are complex problem-solving, future studies, sustainability assessment, or design and evaluation of transdisciplinary processes in sustainability sciences. The eligible candidate should have an excellent Master Degree in social sciences, humanities, engineering sciences or natural sciences with a focus on inter- and transdisciplinary research as well as a background in sustainability science. High proficiency in English is required. Successful candidates will be working in a dynamic, internationally oriented research team and contribute to the emergence of a highly innovative and socially relevant field. Dissertation research is expected to be conducted in close collaboration with researchers from different scientific disciplines as well as and in particular with societal actors outside academia. Successful candidates will thus be able to acquire key competences beyond the classical scientific education. The willingness to provide tutorials and other assisting activities up to 10 hours a week will be expected. Beyond that it is required to enrol in the corresponding PhD studies and to take part continuously and actively in the graduate school programmes and research colloquiums.
